Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland is pleased to announce the appointment of Chad Mullin as its new Executive Director. Chad, who has been a dedicated member of the Habitat team since 2011 will lead the nonprofit in achieving its mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

He succeeds Tara Hill who is retiring after three years with the organization. Under her leadership, five affordable homes were built, 100 critical home repairs were completed, and new developments in Standish and South Portland were initiated while Habitat’s Freeport community was finished. Tara also served on the South Portland Affordable Housing Committee where she advocated for reduced housing construction costs and maintaining affordability.

“I am proud to have been part of a team that accomplished so much over the past three years and am thrilled that Chad was chosen as Habitat’s new leader. As I move into retirement, I look forward to watching him continue to grow the program and provide even more affordable housing in our communities.” Says Hill.

Chad’s journey with Habitat for Humanity began in college, where he first encountered the organization through a spring break volunteer trip to Coatesville, PA. This experience ignited a lifelong passion for Habitat’s mission. After graduating from the University of Maine, Chad joined AmeriCorps, serving full-time with Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte, NC, as a Construction Site Supervisor. Since returning to Maine, he has played a pivotal role at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland where he previously served as the Director of Construction and Housing Programs.

“Habitat for Humanity has always been more than just a job for me; it’s a way to live out my faith and contribute to the community.” said Chad Mullin, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland. “I am honored to step into this new role and continue working with our amazing team to provide affordable, energy-efficient homes to families in need.”

Chad’s promotion to Executive Director comes at a crucial time for the organization. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland has built eighty-six homes in Cumberland County since 1985 and is in the process of building eighteen safe, affordable homes across South Portland and Standish. Additionally, the organization continues to provide low-cost critical home repairs to low-income homeowners in Cumberland County.
